Laboratory

Our laboratory does a variety of metallurgical and chemical test work. It is the starting point of most of our mining equipment designs. The following are among many of the test works we perform in the laboratory according to our client’s needs and specifications.

Some of our available equipment includes:

  • A Hand held XRF
  • An AA Machine
  • Spectra Photo meter
  • A Leco Machine
  • Vibratory feeder
  • Lab  solvex (SX) simulator

1.     Comminution test work

The term refers to crushing or grinding an ore sample to reduce the particle size and liberate the valuable materials from the gangue materials. This test work is usually followed by a particle size analysis test. We have a range of equipment that can perform such test work. Such as:

  • A Rod mill
  • A pulveriser
  • A jaw crusher

2.     Flotation test work

The flotation process separates the different minerals into their respective fractions by using their different physical and chemical surface characteristics. The addition of chemical flotation reagents then causes the valued minerals to attach to air bubbles (Hydro-phobic) and rise to the surface of the tank where they overflow as a concentrate. MC process studies different ore samples for the reagent dosage, kinetics, recovery and grades. Our flotation test is done with the DENVER D12 laboratory flotation machine.

3.     Settling test work

Before a thickener can be provided to the client; MC process performs a detailed settling test on the client’s ore and slurry samples (both the concentrate and the tailings products). The products are thickened and the settling characteristics assessed. Flocculant and coagulant dosages required for the thickening are also studied.

4.     Solvent extraction test work

This test provides an indication of the extraction and stripping kinetics as well as the phase separation behavior for the extraction of ore sample from leached solution. Factors that are investigated during this test are:

1)       Operating temperature

2)       Viscosity of organic phase

3)       Entrainment level

4)       Ore sample in organic loading and extraction efficiency

5)       Stage efficiencies, etc.

5.     Leaching

Heap and VAT leach test work, agitated and pressure leach test facilities are also available.
